niall ferguson on the depression

found this cheerful piece on the amazon page for michael panzner’s When Giants Fall: An Economic Roadmap for the End of the American Era, which looks worth a read

“There will be blood, in the sense that a crisis of this magnitude is bound to increase political as well as economic [conflict]. It is bound to destabilize some countries. It will cause civil wars to break out, that have been dormant. It will topple governments that were moderate and bring in governments that are extreme. These things are pretty predictable.

maybe yes, maybe no. and there are many other things happening at the same time, many potentials good and bad.

but these are items worth noting. panzner was one of the writers sounding the alarm before the ball dropped.
