r.i.p. susannah york

no decent obits yet, so here’s npr’s piece

quite a career, and as good a person as an actress.

let’s see: tunes of glory, a man for all seasons, the killing of sister george, happy birthday wanda june, images, & the shout.

never did see they shoot horses don’t they? and tom jones — i was so young , and never got through it again.

oh yes, also duffy & brotherly love with peter o’toole.

just saw skolimowski’s the shout on tcm recently, and it’s definitely a lost classic of the 70s, up there with brewster mccloud & o lucky man!. also tunes of glory is one of the great guinness roles, she plays his daughter.

she sought out daring roles and grounded them in her sensuality.

thanks, susannah.

ADDITION: guardian obit
