r.i.p. maria schneider

this one really feels too soon, though perhaps not

the passenger was my introduction to antonioni, and to a different kind of cinema. I was working on the boardwalk in wildwood nj, and not enjoying myself much, between my freshman and sophomore years in college. there were two theatres next to each other, one playing the passenger and the other jaws. that says it all, i guess.

she was perfectly cast, but somehow i’m not surprised her life was tempestuous and unhappy.

never did get around to last tango, and my interest in bertolucci has waned over the years.

bon voyage maria.
