what it’s really like

the Canadian tv documentary Outbreak: Anatomy of a Plague gives I think a better picture of what would happen if a real pandemic broke out in a city than either the 90s movie Outbreak or Soderbergh’s Contagion or Penzo’s La Peste

the film follows the course of the Montreal smallpox epidemic of 1885 in tandem with a similar speculated outbreak today in the same city. it combines dramatization & interviews with health professionals and commentators.

it’s streamable on netflix, or as a disc I imagine — netflix makes it really difficult to tell what they carry on disc if you don’t have a disc account.

Let me know if you ever need me to check on disc availability as I still have a disc account with Netflix.
